From the outside to the inside and right back outside. Art is born in the open, develops, persists and fights for its locality. It absorbs, inhales and exhales. Its voice is a collective murmur that reawakens in times of change. It bridges communication from the outside contemporary to the modern inside and recreates a reverberating dialogue. It’s mutually beneficial. Initiated from the concept of spaces under redefinition, it’s a constructive dialogue of inclusiveness.

Due to the COVID19 regulations, we reconsider the outside, rarely used, spaces within the premises of the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation for the Arts and Music. In an effort to share our premises with a larger audience and with a vast array of groups of makers, we embark on a journey while exposing the museum as a living ever-changing organism. Energizing and giving a fresh perspective to some of the most raw spaces of the Foundation, we embark in a journey of collective investigation between producers, curators, artists and the potential milieus of the Foundation. How does art live in these spaces in between, around and outside of an established Art Foundation? How can artists inhale the museum’s blueprints and what kind of creating comes out of their exhale?

The exhibition series “THF Raw” acts like an open invitation to local curators who need a space to experiment, to take chances and to work with artists of their choice. By addressing the alternative non exhibition spaces of the museum, they both give a chance to unseen and unused spaces of the peripheries of the Foundation, while curating work that could be seen with a new set of eyes in these raw but established groundings that exist in the heart of the Athenian city.
