Taking as departure point the work of That Riff Ensemble (2022), and in conversation with sound theorist and musicologist Danae Stefanou, Yorgia Karidi reflects on the political dimension of the harmonization of voices in vocal ensembles (duets, polyphonic ensembles, choirs, backing vocalists) from traditional to pop music. The two speakers examine the power dynamics encountered between the primary and secondary voices and with the listening bodies in the audience. By illuminating their structurally secondary role in musical composition, their presence on stage as well as their relationship with the primary voice, points of access and contact between the participating parties are created that bend hierarchical structures. The discussion will take place in Greek. Followed by an electro-acoustic music set where Yorgia Karidi narrates, sings and recites in a lyrical way the anthology of proposals for coexistence as presented in the works of the exhibition.
