This cycle of lectures analyses the way of life of the protagonists of the Greek Revolution in Bucharest and Jassy, at the principalities’ courts and in the Boyars’ manors; the nutrition and cooking of those times, the officials’ lavish uniforms, the economic and commercial activities of the Romioi, the way they entertained themselves, as well as the Greek-speaking education and the intellectual life in the Principalities. The sessions are co-ordinated by Tudor Dinu, Professor at the University of Bucharest, who has dedicated two decades to the culture of Phanari in the Rumanian lands, with numerous essays, amongst which is the illustrated work, The Phanariots in Wallachia and Moldavia – A History in Ecclesiastical Portraits, Porphyra Publications, Academy of Athens Award, 2018.
