20th century. The age of “extremes,” as acclaimed historian Eric Hobsbawm has called it. From the World Wars to the technological achievements and scientific discoveries, the previous century has laid the foundations of the way we experience the world today.
These lectures focus on the first half of the 20th century by exploring artistic movements, artists and theoretical collectives that have redefined art’s identity and the role it has played.
