Το Ίδρυμα Εικαστικών Τεχνών και Μουσικής Β. & Μ. Θεοχαράκη σας καλωσορίζει και πάλι στους χώρους του και υποδέχεται το Σεπτέμβριο με νέο πρόγραμμα διαλέξεων, συναυλιών και εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων, ενώ οι εκθέσεις μας ανανεώνονται από Νοέμβριο, αφού η τρέχουσα έκθεση “Μαρία Κάλλας: ο μύθος ζει” θα διαρκέσει έως και τις 29 Οκτωβρίου. Την αυλαία θα ανοίξει στις 18 Σεπτεμβρίου η μοναδική Maria Bakalis -εκπαιδευτικός, ηθοποιός, σκηνοθέτης και θεατρική συγγραφέας- με το μονόπρακτο έργο “La Maria, the life and loves of Maria Callas”, η οποία πραγματοποιείται στα πλαίσια αυτής της τρέχουσας έκθεσης του ΙΘ. Σε μια performance για το αγγλόφωνο κοινό μας, η Maria Bakalis ταξιδεύει από το Σικάγο στην Αθήνα, ειδικά για αυτή την περίσταση. Σας περιμένουμε να απολαύσουμε μαζί το θέατρο στα αγγλικά και να εγκαινιάσουμε τη νέα σεζόν! Μην τη χάσετε!

In the context of the exhibition “Maria Callas: The myth lives on” we present a one-act play for our English speaking public, by Maria Bakalis who comes especially from Chicago for this occasion.

The drama, passion, love and art of opera diva Maria Callas is captured by Dr. Maria Boundas Bakalis in her performance of “La Maria, the life and loves of Maria Callas”, an original play based on words and writings of Maria Callas and interwoven with excerpts from Callas’ recordings. The compelling and complex Callas is brought vividly to life through Ms. Bakalis’ sensitive portrayal. Callas and Bakalis promise to captivate and capture both the hearts and the minds of the audience.

About Maria Bakalis

Professor Bakalis holds a BA from De Paul University, MA from Northeastern Illinois University and Doctorate from Northern Illinois University with a Certificate in Acting from London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. As an educator, actor, director, and playwright, Ms. Bakalis believes in the power of the arts to reflect the human condition and humanity that unites us all.
