A piano recital that connects music with painting, presenting works inspired by visual artists and movements. The program includes Debussy’s two Arabesques, influenced by the aesthetics of Art Nouveau; Astor Piazzolla’s Tango to Pablo Picasso; two selected pieces from Granados’ Goyescas op. 11 (No. 1 Los requiebros and No. 4 Quejas o la Maya y el Ruiseñor), based on the paintings of Francisco Goya; and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, inspired by the works of architect Viktor Hartmann.

BIOGRAPHY

Aris Graikousis was born in Athens. He graduated from the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens with First Prize and Gold Medal. He completed postgraduate studies (Reifeprüfung – Diplom / Master of Music) with distinction at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold, Germany, with professors M. Kellig and the internationally renowned French pianist Jean‑Efflam Bavouzet.

He has given recitals and chamber music concerts throughout Germany (Detmold, Hannover, Bielefeld, Wittmund, Paderborn, Essen, Dortmund, Herford, Bochum) and in Poland within the “Musical Thursdays” series in Gdansk.

In Greece he has performed at the Athens Concert Hall, the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation, Athenaeum International Art Center and Conservatory, the Thessaloniki State Conservatory, the Parnassos Literary Society, the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, and numerous festivals and venues across the country.

He has appeared as soloist with the Detmold Academy Chamber Orchestra and the Rethymno Experimental Symphony Orchestra. In May 2019 he gave a recital at the Patriarchal Great School of the Nation in Istanbul, where he received honorary distinctions for his artistic presence.

He has conducted piano seminars for students of all levels and teaches at the conservatory and arts center “Musical Horizons.”
