SONIC DEVIATIONS | Savina Yannatou & Spyros Manesis

  • 11.02.27
    , 20:30

Sonic Deviations brings together a range of distinctive voices from the contemporary Greek music scene, artists working at the boundaries of tradition, experimentation and improvisation. From the modal intensity of Psarogiorgis to Babis Papadopoulos’s explorations of sonic texture, Savina Yannatou’s vocal cosmologies and the nocturnal soundscapes of Kτίρια τη Νύχτα (Buildings at Night), the series unfolds as a collection of distinct yet interconnected sonic journeys.

Rather than proposing a unified style, the programme embraces deviation as a method: each performance offers a departure from genre, expectations and established musical identities. In these intimate encounters, sound becomes a field of exploration where memory, place and experimentation intersect. Sonic Deviations invites audiences to listen differently, inhabiting the subtle tensions between structure and freedom, noise and silence, tradition and reinvention.

Curated by: Achilleas Stavrou

Internationally acclaimed for her distinctive interpretive approach and her ability to weave Mediterranean musical traditions together with free improvisation, Savina Yannatou meets pianist Spyros Manesis, one of the leading representatives of the new generation of Greek jazz musicians.

Through a vibrant dialogue of live improvisation, the two artists create a unique musical encounter in which Mediterranean traditions, songs by Greek composers and improvisation converge to form a unified, contemporary soundscape.
