The building, where the Foundation is housed, was built by the architect Vassilis Tsagris at the end of 1920’s according to the eclectic style of the interwar era, combining morphological characteristics of various European styles. In 1985 it was proclaimed as “a preserved building”. Throughout its existence, it has operated with many different functions, before it was acquired by the Theocharakis Foundation in 2005.
In tribute to the absolute Diva of the Opera, Maria Callas, the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation presents the unique exhibition "MARIA CALLAS: The myth lives on" with more than two hundred personal belongings of Maria Callas, dresses, furniture, jewellery, letters from relatives, friends and artists, and more. The exhibition is hosted by ClioMuseAPP from May 11 to October 29, 2017, which enables visitors to navigate through the exhibition digitally by using the application and thus learn about Maria Callas’ unknown personal and professional life stories! The application is free of charge and is available on Android and iOS devices https://cliomuseapp.com/maria-callas-the-myth-lives-on/
